Description
Ty Bain is a two-storey farmhouse with four windows, showcasing a refined character. The front elevation is nearly symmetrical, featuring one bay to the left of the gabled entrance bay and two bays to the right, with the entrance bay slightly projecting. The building is primarily constructed of red brick, with the rear made of uncoursed masonry, topped by a slate roof. There are rendered chimneys, one at the left end and one in the middle on the right.
The front features 16-pane horned sash windows, each with stone sills and wedge lintels. The window above the main door is narrower than the others. There is an open-fronted porch with a renewed front door and a square overlight set in a moulded surround.
At the rear, the house has a large wing on the right side. The rear windows are mostly made of steel with small panes, while one window in the main range has a wooden frame with crossed glazing bars in the upper panes, a style reminiscent of many houses from the 1830s in Llansantffraid. There is also a lean-to conservatory at the side entrance.
Inside, the hall features a good staircase with late Regency characteristics, including inch-square plain balusters and ornate brackets.
