Description

Cain Villa is a symmetrical two-storey, three-window house set back from the road, featuring a brickwork walled and steel-gated forecourt. The house is constructed of yellow brick painted white and has slate-hung cladding on the north side from the eaves to the ground storey sill level. It includes an original central porch on the south (garden) side and a modern central porch on the north side. The roof is slate with a tile ridge, and there are brick end-chimneys with pots.

The garden elevation is architecturally regarded as the front, showcasing fenestration that includes four-pane hornless sash windows both above and below, with brick segmental arches and stone sills. A heavy growth of ivy obscures whether there is a middle window upstairs. A notable feature is the original four-panel door, which has heavy mouldings on the lower panels and glazing in the upper panels. The original open-fronted porch has trellis sides, a cornice, and a carved front arch with small pendants.

On the north side, facing the yard, the house features 12-pane horizontally sliding sash windows. The layout of the house is irregular, and it has been extended by one bay into the adjacent Wesley Cottage.
