Description
Ty-newydd is a two-storey symmetrical cottage built from uncoursed local shaley stone, featuring larger stones as quoins. It has a slate double-hipped roof with a tile ridge and slating that is butted at the hips, along with a generous eaves overhang. The end chimneys are made of brick and have been restored. There is a single-storey extension on the right side that encloses the entrance; this extension has stonework similar to the front, with red brick on the right gable and a slate span roof with a tile ridge.
The front elevation of the main block features two timber mullion and transom windows with two lights, which are vertically aligned both above and below. The windows have red brick segmental arches and no sills. The upper windows include iron opening casements with iron stays. There is a small modern window in a reduced opening on the front of the side extension, as well as a modern two-light window on the left end elevation.
The interior has not been seen.
