IDBURY CHURCH STREET SP22SW, SP21NW (South side) Idbury House Farmhouse 6/111, 9/111 27.8.57 GV II

Farmhouse. Said to have C16 origins with later remodelling. Regularly coursed, uncoursed and roughly coursed limestone rubble with regularly coursed stonework to raising of eaves to front of main range; stone slate roofs with coped verges to gable end of rear range, replaced by concrete tiles to front of main range. T-plan, main range possibly originally of 3-unit baffle-entry type. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Main range (facing road) has C19 casements with chamfered wood lintels on first floor and 3-light leaded casements with wood lintels on ground floor to either side of late C19 canted bay window. Infilled opening with slightly cambered stone lintel to far left. Ridge stack with dripstones and moulded capping directly above bay window. Left gable end has C20 boarded door under contemporary bracketed flat stone hood flanked by narrow chamfered rectangular windows. 2-light chamfered mullion window to centre on first floor and small leaded casement off-centre to attic. Right gable end has 2-light chamfered mullion window on first floor. Rear range (farmyard side) has C19 casements with wood lintels, centre ground floor in position of infilled doorway, upper right with leaded lights. Ridge stack with moulded dripstone and capping to right and C19 lean-to attached to left gable end. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but said to have wall painting (covered up) and ceiling beams. [2555]
