Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features stone slate roofs with coped parapets and verges at the front of the main range. The building has a basic L-plan with later ranges extending at the rear. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window front, which includes prominent gabled full dormers on the left and right. The windows are late 19th or early 20th century casements set in 18th-century openings, featuring grooved lintels and projecting keystones. The right gable has reduced proportions and is blind, while the left gable is painted to imitate a window. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door that has a similar lintel to the windows. There is an external end stack on the right with paired and rebated ashlar shafts, along with a moulded dripstone and capping. The rear gabled range has two similar ridge stacks that continue from the left gable. Attached to the right is a lower range with a granary on the upper level, which is accessed by external lateral steps at the rear. This range has an infilled doorway on the right and a casement on the left where there was previously a doorway. The interior was not inspected during the last survey in May 1987, but it was noted that the stone-flagged central entrance hall has a staircase with stick balusters.
