Description
Church Farm Cottage and the attached outbuilding are a cottage from the early 18th century with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof. It has two storeys and a three-window front. The cottage includes two-light chamfered mullion windows located directly below the eaves, and former two- and three-light mullion windows, which have had their mullions removed, to the left and right of a central plank door. This door is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber porch, and both sides have dripstones. There is an integral end stack to the right, with its shaft rebuilt in 20th-century red brick above the dripstone.
Attached to the right gable end is a single-storey 19th-century outbuilding with an asbestos sheet roof, featuring a boarded door to the left and a 19th-century casement window to the right. This outbuilding has an integral end stack with a 19th-century red brick shaft. The interior of the cottage was not inspected, but the outbuilding, which was formerly used as a laundry, contains a 19th-century circular cast-iron sink with a furnace below it, as well as a contemporary fireplace.
