Description

Church Farmhouse and attached outbuildings is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from ironstone ashlar and features a plain-tile roof with stone end stacks. The building has a two-unit, central-staircase plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range.

The central entrance consists of a six-panel door that is framed by a moulded wood surround, an overlight, and a moulded stone surround with a segmental-arched head and keyblock, topped with a straight hood. The ground and first floors are adorned with 12-pane sash windows that have moulded stone sills, raised surrounds, segmental-arched heads, and key blocks. To the left, there is a large three-light cellar window featuring chamfered stone mullions and a segmental-arched head. Access to the front door is via a flight of seven steps, which are partly enclosed by curved stone-coped walls.

Additional architectural details include a chamfered plinth, raised quoins, a storey band, moulded stone eaves, a central gabled roof dormer, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. To the rear right, there is a two-storey-and-attic wing. A single-storey outbuilding range projects forward to the right; this part is likely from the 17th century and includes one blocked stone mullion window with a hood mould, along with other two- and three-light casements and a pantile roof. The outbuilding features coursed squared limestone wailing banded with ironstone.

Inside, the farmhouse contains an open-well staircase with slender turned balusters that incorporate columns on bulbous feet, with two balusters per tread, and a ramped handrail.
