Description
No. 1 Meadow Lane is a butcher's shop that was originally a cottage, dating from the 18th century and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, topped with a straw thatch roof. It has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a two-window range. The central entrance features a four-panel, part-glazed door with a wooden lintel. The ground floor has 20th-century windows that replaced earlier casement windows, which also had wooden lintels. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement window on the left and a three-light casement window on the right, both with wooden lintels. The right bay of the building has a gable that faces the street, and the roof includes a collar truss. This property has been used as a butcher's shop since at least 1900.
