Description

Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with some remodeling in the mid-19th century and later additions and alterations. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble and has an asbestos tile roof with coped verges. The building features a three-unit baffle-entry plan with 19th-century additions at the rear, facing the farmyard. It stands two storeys tall with a gable-lit attic and has five early 19th-century leaded casement windows positioned directly below the eaves.

Prominent canted bay windows, dating from around 1840, are located on either side of a contemporary segmental-headed half-glazed door with margin lights to the left. There is an infilled doorway to the right of centre and a three-light 20th-century casement with a wooden lintel to the right. The farmhouse has integral ashlar end stacks, with a ridge stack immediately to the right of the infilled doorway. The left stack is integral and has a moulded dripstone and capping, while the right stack has been rebuilt in 20th-century brick above the dripstone. On the first floor of the right gable end, there is a former two-light mullion window, now with the mullion removed and a leaded casement inserted, along with a dripstone.

At the rear, there is a doorway directly opposite the main entrance and a 19th-century gabled range with lean-tos on either side projecting to the left, featuring 19th and 20th-century leaded casements. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance has an encased cross beam and 19th-century pine wainscot paneling. The right ground-floor room, which serves as the kitchen, contains an oak winder staircase that rises to the attic, positioned to the right of the fireplace.
