Description
West Enoch is a farmhouse likely built around 1800, incorporating earlier elements and featuring later additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay gabled structure with a single-storey and attic courtyard steading at the rear. The farmhouse is constructed from rendered stone with painted ashlar margins and quoin strips, while the steading is made of whitewashed random rubble. There is an eaves course present.
On the principal southern elevation of the farmhouse, there is a central main doorway with an arched window above it. To the left, there is a single-storey wing, which was probably a former dairy. The fenestration is irregular throughout the building. The rear elevation has a lean-to porch on the right side, featuring a single light on the left and a timber-boarded door on the right.
The west range is a single-storey structure that adjoins the farmhouse and the north range, with a dormer hayloft entrance located towards the northern end. The north range is also a single-storey building that connects to the west range and features a 20th-century canopy supported by timber pillars on the left side.
The east range is detached and includes a two-bay basket-arched cartshed on the left, which has prominent keystones and simple block capitals at the springing point. To the right are stables with a timber-boarded sliding door and flanking windows, along with a stone forestair leading to the attic at the northern gable.
Inside, the building has an open double-framed roof with tie-beams and a grooved stone floor. The windows predominantly feature 12- and 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The structure has ashlar-coped skews and coped, rendered gablehead stacks with buff clay cans. The roofs are covered with Scottish slate, equipped with metal flashings and rooflights, and the property has cast-iron rainwater goods.
