Description
The Swan Hotel is a two-storey building with attics, constructed from snecked local stone and featuring painted freestone dressings. It has a slate roof with a brick chimney and a double-pitched Mansard roof that includes attic windows covered by an extended slope of the upper pitch. The front elevation consists of five windows arranged in groups of 1+1+2, all with segmental heads beneath straight bracketed hoods.
On the first floor, there are five windows beneath a cornice supported by moulded stone brackets. All windows are horned sashes with large panes, and they feature painted stone lintels with scalloped decoration and moulded painted stone sills. The entrance doorway is asymmetrically placed, with one window to the left and two to the right. The doorway has a round-headed arch made of painted stone, complete with a large keystone and brackets, and displays a painted relief of a swan in the tympanum. The double wooden doors include elliptical windows.
The ground floor windows are three-part horned sashes with large panes, each having painted stone lintels with scalloped decoration and moulded stone sills beneath shallow relieving arches. At the right end of the building, there is a broad doorway with a flat head, also beneath a shallow relieving arch, which leads to the rear yard.
