Description

Cosy Corner Tea Rooms is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features slate roofs and a rubble chimney that has been raised with yellow brick. The walls are made of painted rubble masonry, and there are timber studded partitions inside.

Originally, the building consisted of two premises, with a shop on the left and a former dwelling on the right. The double-fronted shopfront has small-paned windows on either side of panelled double doors that have inserted glazing. Above this, there is a fascia and cornice, with narrow pilasters at each end. On the first floor, there are two tall windows with 12 panes, which are modern replacements for the original 12-pane sashes that are documented in old photographs.

The former dwelling is set at an angle to follow the street line. It has two windows on the first floor that match those of the shop. On the ground floor, there is one similar window to the left, and to the right of this, there is a panelled entrance door with six panels, along with a boarded door that leads to a rear yard via a passageway on the right, which also features a timber studded partition.

At the rear of the building, there are 20th-century extensions and outbuildings. Inside, the building retains its studded timber partitions.
