Description

The Chimes is a shop and house dating from the late 18th century. It features a rubble plinth, ashlar stonework, and a pantile roof with a small brick ridge stack on the right side. The building is three stories high and has one bay. The first floor has paired 12-pane sash windows with a central dividing mullion, while the second floor has a similar blank opening that is painted to resemble sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a 12-pane sash window on the right and a 16-pane shop front on the left, which includes pilasters that support a fascia board and a moulded cornice. The central entrance consists of paired three-quarter glazed doors, accessed by three concrete steps. The left return of the building is designed in a similar style.
