Description

Bristol House, occupied by Davies Bros. Grocers, is a three-storey building featuring a slate roof and a red brick chimney. The front is rendered brick, painted, with impressed quoins and raised architraves around the first-floor windows, while the rear showcases exposed red brick.

The building has a three-window front. The top floor includes three horned sash windows set beneath painted stone lintels. Between the first and second floors, there is raised lettering from the 19th century that reads "Bristol House." The first floor features a central round-arched window flanked by a pair of Venetian-type windows, each consisting of a larger round-headed window with smaller round-headed windows on either side.

On the ground floor, there are round-headed doorways at each end, each with a moulded surround and a semi-circular fanlight. The door on the left leads to a rear yard, while the door on the right provides access to accommodation above. Between the doors, there is a 19th-century double-fronted shopfront. This shopfront is supported by classically inspired pilasters with panels and medallions, which hold up a cornice on brackets and a fascia board. The central doorway is set back, featuring marginal glazing and an opening light above.
