Description
Roy Brown's Coaches is a former single house that dates back to an unspecified period. It is a two-storey building with a basement at the rear, where the ground slopes down towards the river. The structure is five windows wide and was originally designed with two rooms deep, featuring a central doorway that led into a passage. The building is now divided into a public house and a shop.
The roof is slate with brick chimneys; the western chimney is made of yellow brick, while the eastern chimney, located at the rear of the ridge, is constructed of smaller, flatter red bricks, likely the original material, and has been raised with yellow bricks. The brick walls are known to be in English Bond but are now rendered.
On the street facade, the first floor has five horned sash windows, each with four large panes. The ground floor features shop and public house fronts in a late 19th or early 20th century style, along with one sash window. The dormers in the roof are likely early 20th century additions. At the rear, the original building is obscured by later extensions, primarily from the late 19th and 20th centuries.
