Description

A house, built in the early 19th century and now used as shops, is located on Bedminster Parade in Bedminster, Bristol. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings, featuring brick gable-end stacks and a pantile roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a four-window front. Architectural details include rusticated pilasters and a parapet. The windows have stepped brick voussoirs and fluted keys, with flush window boxes containing 6/6 pane sashes on the first and half of the second floors. Later 20th-century shop fronts have been added to the front, along with 19th and 20th-century extensions to the rear. The interior retains some original features, including mid-19th century panelled doors and early 19th-century cupboard doors with cornices and HL hinges in a rear first-floor room. The group value derives from the building’s contribution to the streetscape.
