Description

Bedminster Bridge is a road bridge located in Bedminster, Bristol, and was completed in 1883. It is constructed of iron and Pennant stone. The bridge features a shallow, elliptical arch design, with cross lattice work on the sides that includes applied flower casts and vertical chain-moulded struts. Above this, there is a balustrade made of interwoven ropes topped with a heavy rope handrail. On either side of the bridge, there are abutments that are topped with panelled ashlar piers supporting the balustrades. A plaque on the side of the bridge reads "COCHRANE/ DUDLEY/ 1883," marking it as an ornamental example of its type.
