Description

St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School House, built in 1895 by W.V. Gough, is a school house located on Stillhouse Lane in Bedminster, Bristol. The building is constructed of pennant rubble with limestone dressings, featuring brick gable end stacks and a tiled roof. It is designed in the Jacobethan style with a single-depth plan, standing two storeys high and comprising a two-window range. The symmetrical front includes a string course and sill band, Dutch end gables, a 20th-century six-panel door with a square overlight, two-light mullion windows, and eaves dormers topped with small pedimented gables, all fitted with 4/4-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected. The property also includes subsidiary features such as attached front area and rear garden walls and railings, along with walls and railings on the left side of the house, which have separate gabled playground entrances with blank panels. This building is part of one of Bristol's best Board schools.
