Description
This is a terrace of four houses, built around 1820 in Bristol. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar, rubble, and brick, with a pantile roof. They are designed on a double-depth plan and are in a late Georgian style. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has a single window on each front elevation. The facades are articulated by strip pilasters extending to a cornice and parapet, with an open area and steps leading down to the basement doorway. The right-hand doorways are semicircular-arched, with flat canopies supported by deep, flat brackets and thin pilaster jambs. The doors themselves have reeded panels and fanlights above. The windows are 8/8-pane sashes on the ground floor and 3/6-pane sashes on the second floor. The interior remains largely original, including fielded shutters on the ground floor. Attached to the front of the terrace are wrought-iron railings forming a basement area. The terrace was built after the opening of the New Cut in 1809.
