Description

The fountain, located in Somerset Square, Redcliff, is a conduit head dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a Pennant stone base and has an octagonal shape. The design features a plinth for statuary niches that includes pedestals and trefoil heads. Above this is a circular band adorned with acanthus leaves, supporting plain columns that lead to a cap and a large vase topped with a fir-cone. The square itself was built in 1756, and the fountain underwent restoration in 1962.
