Description

The building now occupied by J.K. Evans is a three-storey structure with a basement, featuring a slate roof and brick chimneys, constructed from local rubblestone masonry. It has six windows across its front and overhanging bracketed eaves.

On the second floor, there are three 12-pane horned sash windows, arranged with four panes over eight, positioned close to the eaves. The first floor originally had three 16-pane horned sash windows, but the left window has been altered to include large panes. The central doorway on the ground floor is flanked by broad three-part horned sashes with large panes, all of which are set under cambered arches. The entrance features a panelled door with a semicircular fanlight above, deeply set within a round arched doorway. There is also an inserted window in the gable end facing west.

Both the gable end and the front of the building show evidence that the roof has been raised. No 9, which houses the National Westminster Bank, was originally paired with No 11 but was extended at ground floor level towards the street in 1903. This single-storey extension consists of four bays made from bullnose local stone. It has a doorway to the right and three windows to the left, all under segmental arches with a stringcourse above. The leftmost window lacks the stringcourse. The windows have stone sills and modern glazing, with an entablature above and a low parapet to the flat roof. A flagpole is also present, and large pane sash windows are arranged similarly to those on No 11.
