Description
The Midland Bank is a one-storey building with an attic, featuring a four-window range. It is constructed from rock-faced squared brown rubble stone, with extensive dressings in grey-brown ashlar. The roof is a slate mansard, with a stack at the eastern end.
The ground floor includes a moulded ashlar plinth, a flush frieze, and a moulded cornice beneath a parapet, which is adorned with four ashlar panels and a moulded coping. The door and window surrounds are made of ashlar. To the left, the door has a moulded architrave, a cornice supported by consoles, and the bank's arms above, which are held up by laurel wreaths. The entrance features paired panelled doors. The windows have moulded architraves, moulded sills, and fielded apron panels extending down to the plinth. The original windows have been replaced with hardwood small-paned versions.
The upper mansard is framed by rubble stone coped piers that are against the flanking walls of neighbouring buildings. There are four flat-topped dormers, each with nine panes and top-lights.
Inside, there is a deep panelled original ceiling.
