Description
The barn range located to the southwest of Tyn-y-Cwm is a Grade II listed building dating from 1713, as indicated by the inscribed door lintel that reads "MR SAMUEL BEAVON JAMES 1713 PRICE." The barn is situated on a downhill slope and consists of five bays, with the two lower bays being slightly wider to accommodate cattle stalls on either side of a central feeding passage. The internal arrangements have been recently modified.
The structure features an iron roof and has rubble stone gable ends. The byre end includes three doorways with voussoir lintels. The side walls are square panel timber framed, resting on a rubble base; the lower panels are filled with boarding, while the upper panels are made of woven laths. There is a central threshing bay that has a double door to the east and a smaller door to the west, which may have once had a porch.
The roof structure includes two crucks that have been re-used, while other trusses are supported by tie beams and paired raking braces. Short braces extend from the tie beam to the wall posts.
