Description
This is an L-shaped barn located approximately 10 meters south-east of Llan Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a limestone rubble plinth, extending up to the gable ends, and is topped with slate roofs. The main range consists of four bays aligned north-south, with a slightly later three-bay range projecting to the east, creating the L-shape. The main range has two levels and includes doorways at the far left and left of center, with eaves hatches flanking a threshing entrance in the third bay from the left. The east range has four doorways. Inside, the main range displays jowled wall posts and a single-purlin roof supported by raking struts connecting tie beams to principal rafters. There is a loft in the two left bays and in the right bay. The east range features one rectangular panel above a high plinth, which has triangular ventilation holes in the gable end and back wall (the latter is infilled). It also has a single-purlin roof with raking struts from tie beams to principal rafters. The barn is included for its group value.
