WEST FELTON CP L-shaped barn approximately 10 metres south of The Buildings Farmhouse
GV II Barn. Probably c.1700 with later repairs and alterations. Timber-framed with red brick infill and high plinth; corrugated-iron roofs with raised verges. Forms L-shape around south and west sides of farmyard. Two levels.
Framing: square panels, three from cill to wall plate to south range and two from cill to wall-plate to west range; long, straight tension braces. One bay C18 red brick addition to east end of south range. Scattered segmental-headed doorways to plinth of west range and flat-arched doorways to south range with hatches in panels of framing to both ranges. Wide threshing entrance to far left of west range in angle with south range has opposing doorways with cambered heads. Cross-shaped air vents in panels of framing to both ranges and mutilated small louvred dovecote to gable end of west range.
INTERIOR: staggered double-purlin roof in five bays to south range with long straight braces from girding beam to tie beams and raking struts from tie beams to principal rafters; collars between upper sets of purlins. Central king-post truss to bay in angle between ranges. Continuous lofts to south range and to west range to right of threshing entrance. Inspection of roof structure of west range not possible at time of resurvey (May 1986). Included for group value.
