Description
Rednal Goods Shed is a railway goods shed built around 1848 for the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway Company. The building features a timber frame with timber cladding, topped with a slate roof.
It has a square plan with a projecting canopy at the north-eastern end, which faces the railway line, and includes a cart entry on the south-eastern side. The exterior presents a simple look, defined by vertical timber cladding on its elevations. It has a pitched roof and square-headed openings for wagons at each gable end. The north-eastern gable features a projecting canopy supported by deep brackets, adorned with narrow dagger boards on three sides. The south-eastern elevation includes a central arched doorway for cart access.
Inside, the goods shed is a single open space with the timber structure fully exposed. The roof structure shows evidence of a central bearing for a jib crane that was once located there.
