Description

This is an L-shaped barn located approximately 20 meters south of Bishop's House, dating from the late 17th century with later alterations. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame, with concrete blocks on the gable end of the south range and a corrugated iron roof. The layout consists of a long west range and a shorter range projecting to the east on the south side, with two levels.

The west range includes four doorways, with the rightmost having double doors and the first from the right featuring a stable door. There are also two eaves hatches. The south range has a wide entrance on the right, an eaves hatch, and a stable door to the left.

Inside, the framing is visible, showcasing square and rectangular panels, with two panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate, supported by long straight tension braces in the west range. The structure includes short straight braces from the wall posts to the wall-plate. The roof is a single-purlin design with four bays in the west range, featuring raking struts from tie beams to principal rafters, and three unequal bays with queen-strut trusses in the south range. There is a loft in the two northern bays of the west range and a continuous loft in the south range. It is possible that the south range originally extended further to the east.
