Description
15 High Street is a pair of town houses built around 1820. The houses are constructed of brick and feature slate roofs with an axial stack positioned towards the front of the roof slope. Although designed as a pair, they have an unusual layout, with the entrance to No 15 located on the return elevation facing Chelsea Lane. This design allows for a symmetrical appearance on the main elevation facing High Street. The main façade includes a central doorway accessed by steps, which is the entrance to No 14. This doorway features a six-deep moulded panelled door with a radial fanlight set in a reeded architrave. The flanking windows are 16-pane sash windows, with 8-pane windows in the attic storey, all topped with flat arched brick heads. The return elevation facing Chelsea Lane has an identically detailed entrance set towards the rear. This building is a notable example of early 19th-century town houses, particularly for its corner site adaptation and the preservation of much of its original detail.
