Description
The Norton Arms Hotel is a three-storey building with a basement, constructed from rubble with freestone dressings. It features three-storey splayed bays on both the left and right sides, with iron-railed balconies on the first floor that are supported by curved iron brackets. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, and it has very wide bracket eaves adorned with saw-tooth moulding. There are three rubble chimney stacks and three grouped sash windows with wide glazing.
At the center, there is a projecting semi-octagonal porch that has a parapet and a small semi-circular pediment with a shield. The sides of the porch have four-pane lights, and the entrance is a semi-circular arch with a keystone and panelled pilasters. The entrance features a recessed six-panel door with a fanlight and panelled reveals.
To the right, there is a seven-bay gabled and half-timbered building from 1894, which is not considered of special interest. Inside, the hotel retains two-level galleries around the main openwell stair, which has cusped braces and stop-chamfered beams.
