Description
The George and Dragon Public House is a building dated 1637, featuring a later two-storey and basement front that is roughcast with end pilasters. It has a slate roof with no eaves and a brick chimney stack on the left side. The first floor includes three sash windows, with the left window being a three-light design, all framed by broad moulded architraves. There is a six-panel recessed door located under a bracketed hood, which is accessed by steps to the center of the building.
To the right on the ground floor, there is a 20th-century one-storey extension with a slate roof and a five-light leaded window, along with a boarded door to the right. A three-light sash window to the left features a moulded and pedimented architrave. Below, there is a recessed basement entrance with a chamfered Tudor arch. The left side of the building has a roughcast gable with plain bargeboards, and three windows on the first floor, with attic windows above. The rear of the building is also roughcast, featuring modern windows and a projecting roughcast and brick chimney stack, along with a gable-ended cross range to the right.
Inside, the building retains one ground floor room at the rear right, which has 18th-century reset panelling that is said to have come from former church pews.
