Description

The Horse and Jockey Public House is a 2-storey building with a rendered courtyard frontage and a steep-pitched roof at the front. It features one window on each floor, consisting of a sash window on the ground floor and a casement window above, along with a door and window that are grouped under a cambered head. There is a similar range extending beyond this section, which has raised eaves and a brick stack at the rear. Each floor of this range has two 3-light sash windows, also under cambered heads, with the entrance located in the center.

At the rear of the courtyard are stables that extend around the sides, constructed with rubble and weatherboarded fronts. The stables have a slate roof, possibly featuring 18th-century tie beams and overlapping purlins, with an uneven ridge and small unglazed openings.

There is a shed with a corrugated iron roof that connects the stables to a 19th-century cottage that faces the street. This cottage is 1-storey with an attic, has rubble walls with brick dressings, and a slate roof. It includes two windows on the west and south sides, and one window and door on the north side, along with a brick stack on the south side that has a chamfered southwest corner.

Inside the public house, the ground floor retains exposed timber beams and features a large fireplace. The roof has five trusses, including part of a 15th-century truss at the center of the former open hall, which displays detailed cusping between the collar and apex. Another truss of the tie and collar beam type is present, with windbraces in the end bay. The current roof has been heightened above the medieval structure.
