Description

The Old Workshop, formerly known as Knighton Baptist Chapel, is a building with a white rendered upper floor featuring a cross-gable on the long front, while the ground floor is made of coursed rubble. The right side and the upper floor of the left gables, as well as the rear, are covered with weatherboarding. There are brick jambs at the side entrance. The building has a slate roof with plain eaves and bargeboards, and it does not have any chimneys.

The facade is four windows wide, showcasing a mix of hopper-type, sash, and casement windows in 2- and 3-light configurations. Under the central gable, there is a notable 4-light segmental window with a timber margin and keystone. Below this window and on either side, there are two boarded doors, one of which is blocked, that originally flanked the pulpit. The bridging has been removed, and there is a small attic window above a boarded loft opening on the left gable. The ground floor features entrance doors and iron railings by the stream.

At the time of inspection in April 1985, the building was disused. Inside, it retains its original simple tie-beam roof with angled braces, although the overlapping purlins have mostly been replaced. The main floor includes timber beams with wall brackets.
