Description

The railings are cast-iron gothic structures that were relocated from the former road bridge across Wylcwm Brook, possibly constructed in connection with the opening of the Norton Arms Hotel in the same year.

The railings consist of two equal lengths of cut ironwork set at right angles to each other, supported by modern stonework and concrete plinths and piers. The design features uprights with continuous pointed arches beneath cylindrical handrails, and finials on the bottom rail. There are also two shorter sections with similar ironwork detailing to the north.

At the right end, there is a lamp-post with an octagonal base section, a fluted stem, and an ornamental cap. The bottom rail has raised lettering that reads: "S W Williams County Surveyor Radnorshire. AD 1867." The lamp-post bears the inscription: "W Thomas. Llanidloes Foundry."
