Description
Nos 1 and 2 Concrete Cottages Pair of double-fronted, 2-unit cottages in rendered concrete under a steeply-pitched slate roof; 2-storeys with gabled stair projections and lean-tos at the rear. Gothick style. Each has a central ridge stack with 4 diagonally-set shafts and corbelled cap. The front has angle pilaster strips, a plat band and moulded architraves. Mullioned and transomed windows (each house has 3-light to L, 4-light to R), with a blind window above the porch. The centrally-placed porches have a cusped arch on moulded capitals and a concrete slab floor. The gable ends have a single 2-light window in the upper storey.
Planked front door. The stair projection has a single fixed light in the upper level. A lean-to brick bake house was added to L of rear late C19. This has a ledged and battened door and bread oven in situ.
Access was not possible at the time of inspection (July 1996) but is said to be identical in form and materials to No 1.
