Description
The Old School is a simple brick school room with a slate roof, built in 1852. It features a right-side brick stack, part of which has been renewed, and has projecting boarded eaves. A centrally placed porch includes a plaque dated 1852 above the doorway, which has a boarded door set beneath a flat brick arch, along with a small fixed light in the left side wall. On either side of the porch, there are windows under flat brick arches with exaggerated splays; the right window is a four-light with a transom, while the left window has been replaced. In the left gable, there is a three-light window with a transom under a segmental head. At the rear, there is an integral lean-to under the slate roof, and the right gable has a corrugated iron lean-to. Inside, the single classroom has a king post roof with diagonal struts.
