Description
Bearwood County Primary School is a school building dating from around 1850. It is constructed of brick with stone quoins and dressings, topped by a hexagonal slate roof. The layout is T-shaped, featuring a front hall block and irregular lower blocks at the rear, all at one storey.
The front block includes a simple bellcote on the ridge and carved bargeboards. There is a gabled porch at the lower center, which has a keyed round window in the gable and a three-centred arched entrance with a boarded door and ribbed transom light. On either side of the porch are large stone-dressed windows with casements and glazing bars. The end gables feature tall mullioned windows with glazing bars, each topped with cusped pointed arch heads. To the left, there is a lower wing with tall decorated brick stacks and a central lower gable that includes a two-light window with cusped heads. A late 20th-century extension is located at the rear, but this part is not listed.
