Description
Hunters Lodge is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infilling and an old tile gabled roof. The building has a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays, with single-storey extensions added to the northwest, north, and southeast.
The southwest front has two bays containing 2-light casement windows, with those on the ground floor set in small square bays. There is a tiled lean-to on the right, which includes a 20th-century gabled entrance porch on the southeast side, along with one casement window. To the left, there is a one-storey gabled tiled extension that also has one casement window. A large chimney is situated on the northwest gable.
Inside, the complete frame is exposed, showcasing the ground floor ceiling beams and joists, which have chamfers and stopped ends. On the first floor in the northwest framed bay, there is an old 4-light diamond mullioned window located on what was the former external wall. Additionally, there is an inglenook fireplace on the old gable to the northwest.
