The Vicarage

Two-storey house consisting of an L-shaped front range with hipped roof and an earlier, lower rear range with pitched roof. The front range is of brick with scribed stucco painted blue, slate roof with projecting, boarded eaves and 3 brick stacks. Three-bay entrance front with narrower, recessed central bay which incorporates a shallow porch comprising Tuscan pilasters against the sides of the outer bays and a plain entablature. Nine-pane sash windows in the upper storey, 16-pane with margin glazing in the lower storey. The front door is glazed with margin lights above panelling. The garden front to R is a 3-window range with 9-pane sashes in the upper storey and doors with full-height glazing (including margin lights) in the lower storey. Three-window rear range has a slate roof and its rear wall, of brick, is continuous with front range. Iron-frame multi-pane windows with Gothick tracery and stained glass tracery lights. In the upper storey the windows are below the wall plate and in the lower storey they have flat brick arches.

The rear range has 2 square-panelled timber framed partitions in the upper storey. Front range has a straight, plain stair with thin balusters in a central stair hall, with main rooms either side of it and behind to the R. Several cast iron fireplaces, one with Lord Nelson in profile.
