Description

The Vicarage is a two-storey house built in an L-shape, featuring a front range with a hipped roof and an earlier, lower rear range with a pitched roof. The front range is constructed of brick with scribed stucco painted blue and has a slate roof with projecting, boarded eaves and three brick stacks. The entrance front has three bays, with a narrower, recessed central bay that includes a shallow porch supported by Tuscan pilasters on the sides of the outer bays, topped with a plain entablature. The upper storey has nine-pane sash windows, while the lower storey features 16-pane sash windows with margin glazing. The front door is glazed and has margin lights above the paneling.

To the right, the garden front has a three-window range with nine-pane sashes in the upper storey and doors with full-height glazing, including margin lights, in the lower storey. The three-window rear range has a slate roof, and its rear wall is made of brick, continuous with the front range. It features iron-frame multi-pane windows with Gothick tracery and stained glass tracery lights. In the upper storey, the windows are positioned below the wall plate, while the lower storey windows have flat brick arches.

Inside, the rear range has two square-panelled timber framed partitions in the upper storey. The front range includes a straight, plain stair with thin balusters in a central stair hall, with main rooms located on either side and behind to the right. There are several cast iron fireplaces, one of which features a profile of Lord Nelson.
