Description
5 Severn Square is a three-storey building with a cellar, featuring a symmetrical brick front laid in Flemish bond. The gently pitched slate roof has a pitch daubed finish and is adorned with a saw-toothed eaves cornice and later bargeboards. There are brick stacks projecting to the right, which have new caps.
The second floor has shallow eight-pane sash windows flanking a similar six-pane window. The first floor displays sixteen-pane sash windows flanking a twelve-pane sash window. The ground floor has sixteen-pane sashes above cellar openings. The flat arches are formed with gauged brick voussoirs, and the reveals are plain with stone sills.
Stone steps with handrails lead up to plain doorcases that feature a dripboard. The entrance includes a shallow rectangular fan and a 19th-century panelled door. Iron railings with dog-bars enclose the forecourts.
The rear elevation is constructed in English garden wall bond and features cambered header arches above the casement windows. There is an offset, tall narrow stair sash window, and a modern lean-to has replaced a former gabled extension on the right.
