Description
Little Gwernfythen Farmhouse is a two-storey farmhouse built in the mid-19th century, constructed from painted rubble stone. The front features a slate roof, while the rear has a combination of stone tiles and corrugated roofing, with boarded eaves. The main section of the house consists of three bays, with a central six-panel door and tripartite sash windows that sit under stone lintels and have stone cills. To the west, there is a small range that is set back, featuring external stone steps that lead to a boarded loft door, which serves as a back kitchen or granary. The farmhouse has four squared rubble ridge stacks with oversailing courses.
At the rear of the northeast end, there is a hipped two-storey dairy wing that has an asbestos roof and additional small-pane sash windows. Inside, the dairy has a large flagstone floor and two salting slabs. There is a slender staircase arch at the foot of the enclosed oak stairs, and the upper floors are finished with wide oak boards.
