Description

Llwyn Farmhouse is a 16th-century building that has undergone later alterations. It features a timber frame with painted brick and slate roofs. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays, originally designed with an open central hall bay. At the southern end, there is a narrow cruck-framed box that was part of a former dais canopy, which has since been replaced by the main stack, creating a lobby entry plan.

There is a two-storey rear wing, also timber framed, with a stone gable that includes a terminal stack. Additionally, there is a further two-bay wing at the front that contains the kitchen, which also has a terminal stack. Lean-to extensions are present on the north side of both wings. The entrance is located in the centre bay of the original block, and there is a boarded door on the south side at the junction of the rear wing, raised over steps and featuring a simpler canopy. The original door with a timber doorhead is located on the north side.

The farmhouse showcases an exceptionally heavy cruck frame on the south gable of the main block, which supports double purlins and has a notch for the ridge, along with collar and raking struts. Various windows are present, including a small-paned iron window in the kitchen. Inside, there is a stair in the rear wing within the living room that features a chamfered spine beam, and the kitchen also has a heavily chamfered spine beam.
