Description

The building is a manse, constructed with red brick and a rear wall made of Breidden dolerite, featuring red stone and slate roofs, with the manse roof having a lower pitch. It has a central entrance accessed through a porch, flanked by round-headed windows with iron frames and cast glass. The northern gable was rebuilt around 1900-1910 and features three windows. The porch, added during the same period, has a round-arched opening with flush bead panelled doors, corner pilasters, and limestone dressing with an entablature. Above the porch, there is a limestone-framed date stone. The manse, which is one bay, was likely added in 1839 and includes a flushed door in a moulded frame, a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor, and a 9-pane window above.

At the rear of the chapel, there is a schoolroom added at a lower level, which leads directly into the Sunday school hall set at right angles. Both spaces feature two-centred door openings with framed and boarded doors, and the hall has two-light timber windows with hopper vents, all margin glazed. The forecourt is enclosed with spear-headed railings between monolithic stone piers.

Inside the chapel, the walls are lined and painted, with pilasters that rise from triple small corbels over a timber boarded dado. There is a simple moulded cornice and a central ceiling rose. The pews are arranged in three blocks with two aisles, and there is a panelled pine reading desk. In 1994, the pews and organ were moved from their original positions, and the ceiling was cracked by an earthquake around 1985.
