Description
Fir Tree is a two-storey building with a three-window Georgian facade, a two-storey rear wing, and a one-storey attached outbuilding range. There is a modern extension at the left rear. The main front and right gable are constructed of brick, while the rear and left gable are made of rubble stone. The building features a dentil eaves course on both the front and rear. It has slate roofs with stone coping and two end stacks, one of which has been rebuilt in brick. There is a projecting left chimney breast made of rubble stone that includes an inset date stone inscribed "RTI 1783."
The main front has windows set in plain reveals and offset to the left, featuring brick flat arches and double-hung sashes with small panes, similar to those on the upper right side of the wing. There is a central recessed doorway beneath a modern porch.
The 19th-century brick wing has dentil eaves, a slate roof, and a brick end stack. A modern conservatory with a pitched roof is located near the gable end.
The outbuildings include a single-storey range of former brick cowsheds attached to the wing, facing the yard. There is also a late 19th-century detached brick and slate stable or trap-house with a loft, cambered openings, and plank doors.
Considerable period detailing is preserved throughout the ground floor, including exposed beams and joists, six-panel main doors, other plank-and-batten doors, and a large open fireplace under a timber bressumer in the right-hand room.
