Description
Bryn Mawr is a two-storey building with a single pile and adjoining rear wings that have separate roofs. The front and part of the west wing are constructed from rubble stone, with the front rendered, while the rest is made of painted brick. The building features slate roofs, brick detailing at the eaves, and flush stacks, including one with a brick upper on the front right gable and another on the east wing gable.
The front has two windows, with the ground floor windows featuring chambered heads. The windows are two-light metal casements hung on gudgeon pins, except for the lower left window, which is a wooden casement. The front door is part glazed and has four panels. The west wing includes a three-light chamfered mullion window with wooden shutters, which are now glazed, and a two-light chamfered mullion window on the first floor of the west wing that has been re-used.
Adjoining the east wing is a stone rubble lean-to with a tin roof and a gable stack, which serves as a bakehouse/washhouse that contains an oven and a copper. Inside, the original front portion retains two 17th-century main axial beams that are chamfered and have scroll stops, along with exposed joists. The wings feature narrow chamfered beams, and the east wing has beaded plank panelling on the lower half of the walls. Throughout the building, plank doors are hung on gudgeon pins.
