Description
Rhysnant Farmhouse is a two-storey building made of red brick, featuring a dentil eaves course and a slate roof. The west gable is rendered. The farmhouse includes a cellar and has a single pile layout with two gable end stacks and a ridge stack located to the left of the center, aligned with a straight joint in the brickwork. The left portion of the house was historically used as a granary, dairy, and accommodation for farm workers. A summoning bell is located on the left corner under a pitched roof canopy.
The right side of the house, which is the family portion, has three windows, all set under brick arches with flat heads. The center upper opening was formerly blind. There are two similar openings on the left side of the house, all featuring three-light wooden casements. The central front door to the right-hand portion is a plank door with large decorative external strap hinges, and it is sheltered by an open-fronted trellis work porch with a hipped roof.
The rear elevation includes a tall stair light and two-light wooden casements under segmental arch heads, along with a modern casement in a blocked former opening to the granary loft.
The farmhouse is relatively unaltered, with the right-hand family rooms showcasing large exposed beams that have a narrow chamfer and step stops. The basement kitchen and dairy feature massive stone flags on the floor.
