Description
Church Cottage is a 19th-century building with a timber frame and painted brick, topped with a plain-tiled roof featuring scalloped bands. The original square-panelled framing has been partially replaced with brick on the gable wall and part of the front wall, which is painted to imitate the framing. The cottage is single-storeyed with an attic that is lit from the apex of the gable. It has a small two-unit plan, with a doorway located towards the center, flanked by a two-light casement window on the right and a fixed-light nine-pane window to the right. To the left, there is an added lean-to made of painted brick, which includes a six-pane sash window. The position of this lean-to suggests that the entire left-hand bay behind it may be a later addition, possibly filling in a passage, and it may have served as a small shop.
