Description

3 High Street is a pair of 18th-century houses, with a further house attached, built of painted brick with a red plain tiled roof. Timber framing is visible in the rear elevation. Each house has a two-unit plan with a central entrance. No. 3 is dated 1741 on the keystone above its left-hand window, and the windows on the upper floor, along with this one, have steeply arched, cambered brick heads. A renewed central doorway has been added, and a bay window inserted to its right. No. 2 is also dated 1741, with its date on a keystone. It has paired doors in the centre, flanked by a shallow bay window to the left, possibly a former shop window, and a 16-pane sash window with a moulded keystone set within a flat-arched brick head. Wooden mullioned and transomed windows of two and three lights also have cambered brick heads above. No. 1 has been re-windowed, with a renewed doorway to its left. A dentilled eaves band runs along the entire building, while end wall stacks and coped gables mark the ends of the row.
