Description
The Old Barn at Rhyd Farm is a barn constructed from local limestone in a quasi-rubble style, topped with a slate roof. The masonry at each gable features an uncoped upstand. The front slope, facing the farmyard, is covered with large 19th-century slates, while the rear slope retains its small 18th-century slates.
The barn has opposing large doorways; the front doorway has been partly filled in with brickwork, and the rear doorway has been partly filled in with concrete blockwork. There are doors located both above and below at the front and rear. The barn also includes numerous ventilation slits at the front, rear, and in the south gable. At the north end, the barn is adjacent to extensive modern sheds.
