Description

The building is an open-fronted cartshed with a loft, dating from the 19th century, located at Garthgynan. It features four bays and faces east, constructed from axe-dressed local limestone with some sandstone, while the upper part of the front wall is made of sandstone. The roof is slate with a tile ridge and has a remnant of a weathervane. Each bay has a low elliptical arch made of dressed sandstone, and directly above each arch is a loft hatch positioned just below the eaves. These loft hatches are fitted with double shutters behind a gauze screen and are topped with a cambered stone arch.

On the south gable wall, there is a wide exterior staircase with a parapet, leading to a boarded loft door that has a cambered brick arch. At the center of the structure, there is a small wooden dovecote.

The roof structure consists of four bays supported by king-post trusses, and a large pulley wheel remains in place at the center. Part of the loft floor has been lost.
