Description
Garthgynan features a building constructed from local limestone rubble masonry, with a central shared chimney stack that is slightly off-centre. The roof is made of slate with a tile ridge. The building has pairs of six-pane casements both above and below. The central chimney stack is only partially visible.
The right side of the building is a cottage with its entrance at the front. The left side resembles a cottage but was likely altered from one; it is more probably a brewhouse from the beginning. This unit has a door in the left gable wall that leads to stairs going up to the loft, as well as another door that provides access to the ground storey interior.
Prominently displayed at a high level on the front is a datestone marked 1658 WW, which is likely not in its original position. The left unit contains the hearth and equipment associated with the brewhouse, along with a loft that has a separate entrance above. The right unit features a domestic hearth.
